New Mexico State Fair Beer

Angry Mule

Exciting, Flavorful, Refreshing, Eye Catching, Spirited, Local, Innovative, Fresh!
These words not only depict the experiences you will find at the 2021 New Mexico State Fair, they also clearly describe the official New Mexico State Fair Angry Mule, our new craft cocktail collaboration with Tumbleroot Brewery & Distillery of Santa Fe.

The Angry Mule is a twist on the popular Moscow Mule, but with a New Mexico twist. The head distiller at Tumbleroot drove to Hatch, NM to purchase red chile pods, then fashioned a simple syrup infused with Hatch red chile, fresh ginger, and spices for that extra flavorful kick. This ready-made cocktail connects our local agricultural heritage with the growing industry of craft distilling in New Mexico.

The New Mexico State Fair Angry Mule will be available at retailers and grocers in Albuquerque and Santa Fe starting Labor Day weekend, and at EXPO New Mexico throughout the run of the New Mexico State Fair.

Blue Corn Lager

We are so excited to be releasing this Blue Corn Lager in partnership with our title sponsor, Pattern Energy, as part of the 2021 New Mexico State Fair. Our friends at Tumbleroot Brewery & Distillery selected New Mexico blue corn from Santa Ana Pueblo as the backbone ingredient for the Blue Corn Lager. This brew was finished with hops grown in northern New Mexico. The result is a crisp, refreshingly light beer, with a hint of sweetness from the blue corn, that will certainly satisfy the thirst of fairgoers.

This will be the 6th year the New Mexico State Fair has produced a commemorative craft beer featuring local ingredients and local business. This year’s custom packaging features a subtle pattern of blue corn rows and honors the origin of the ingredients. Tumbleroot’s Blue Corn Lager will be exclusively available at Expo New Mexico during the run of the New Mexico State Fair.
